Hungary (hʌŋɡəri/ Magyarorsz�g), officially the Republic of Hungary (Magyar K�zt�rsas�g), is a landlocked country in the Carpathian Basin in Central Europe, bordered by Austria, Slovakia, Ukraine, Romania, Serbia, Croatia, and Slovenia.

Its capital is Budapest. Hungary has been a member of European Union since 2004, of NATO since 1999, of OECD since 1996, and is a Schengen state since 21^st December. 2007. The country is one of the founders of V4 (so-called Cooperation of Visegr�d) organization. The official language is Hungarian, which is part of the Finno-Ugric family.

Until recently, Hungary was also listed as one of the 15 most popular tourist destinations in the world.It attracts about 7 million visitors a year. The country is home to the largest thermal water cave system and the second largest thermal lake in the world (Lake H�viz), the largest lake in Central Europe�(Lake Balaton), and the largest natural grassland in Europe (Hortob�gy).�
